Roger Federer’s Match 4 Africa in Seattle

Hi guys,

Federer, ”The Swiss Maestro” the man, the myth, the legend hit the courts in Seattle in an exhibition match against John Isner at Key Arena in downtown Seattle. Bill Gates teamed up with Roger to organize the event. The event was sold out, the place was rocking and there was a great atmosphere.  The match was to raise money for The Roger Federer Foundation which focuses on the improvement of quality of early learning, basic education and on the promotion of extra curricular activities for the children affected by poverty in Southern Africa. To open the night there was a doubles match. Federer teamed up with Bill Gates and Isner played with Mike McCready from Seattle based legendary band Pearl Jam. They enjoyed themselves. They were joking around, smiling and laughing. Federer and Bill Gates won the doubles match.

The single’s match was somewhat competitive. Federer won 6-4, 7-6. It was a pleasure to finally see Federer here in the Pacific Northwest. In the interview at the end Federer mentioned how much he likes Seattle, and how much it reminded him of back home in Switzerland because of the mountains and water and how nice it was. He also said that the people were very good to him and very friendly. John thanked Federer and said that it was an honour to play and share the court with him and it was a night he will never forget. It was also a night I won’t forget either!
