Hi Guys, Wimbledon is finally here, my favourite Grand Slam of the year. There are two clear cut favorites. Roger Federer who is the best player in the world right now. Rafael Nadal who is coming off his 10th French Open title in May. Nadal is not far behind Roger, becoming the first person male or female to win same Grand Slam 10 times . Rafa record remarkably is 77-2 since 2005. Personally I would still give Federer the slight edge on grass.
There are four dark horses in the tournament. Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and Milos Raonic. I think the reason that Novak is flying under the radar at Wimbledon, because he has lost his motivation and drive. Consequently he has been losing all the time after that happened. With the help and guidance of his new coach, the legendry Andre Agassi, I believe Novak is now back on the right track. Novak in my opinion will make a deep run this year on the grass. As far as Andy Murray goes, I think he is extremely motivated to defend his Wimbledon title this year. It all depends on how easily he can get through the first week and obviously his draw. My opinion about Stan Wawrinka, is if he is at the top of his game, he can beat anybody in the game. He has the best backhand in the men’s game. His forehand isn’t too far behind and his serve is very strong. If he happens to win Wimbledon this year he will have achieved the Career Grand Slam. Now finally with our Maple Leaf Missile, Canada’s very own Milos Raonic. Although grass is his best surface, he will go as far as his serve will take him, because his baseline game is not where it needs to be right now. All that being said, that’s why I think it’s a two horse race at the top for this year’s Wimbledon crown on the men’s side, with Federer being 1A and Nadal being 1B. |
